Taken at Lake Nakuru

Taken at Lake Nakuru

I love making stuff. Ever since I was a kid I have been building things. From sand, lego and assorted things lying around the house! It took me a while to find what to do with that though. I tried my hand at mechanical engineering (when I was going through the car stage) but found I really wasn’t a very good student! I think I really came alive when I figured out that I could make things with computers – software. One of the best things about computers is a little feature called undo. With software if you make a mistake or break something, you just roll back to the previous version – no damage done!

Over the years I have developed a passion for taking business problems and figuring out the most simple, sensible solution. I have seen a lot of software applications that are over-engineered and become complex and difficult to work with. I think this is a waste and is not fair to the business that is paying for it, or for the developers who have to maintain it!

My other passion is both completely unrelated and directly related to this! I want to see people set free from ’stuff life throws at them’. people get caught up in the things of life that trap them and stop them from being who God wants them to be. It may be self doubt, unbelief, addictions etc. I want to do my bit to help people get past these issues and live a life where they get to chase the passions and dreams that are in their hearts. I want to start out on this process using software. To help people develop a skill they can use to pursue their dreams and at the same time encourage them to be more than they think they can be and to not let the things of this world hold them back.

This blog is a collection of some of my thoughts on this as well as a sprinkling of technology, software problems and things that I find interesting!
